Why girls in government?

Every gender equality issue—whether it is menstrual equality, pay equity, or sexual harassment—ultimately comes down to a need for policy change. However, women currently hold less than 30% of all political offices in the United States, so bills on women’s issues are routinely decided—or ignored—by male majorities.

When women run for office, they win at the same rates as their male counterparts, but there simply aren’t enough female candidates. Why? Unlike young boys, young girls are rarely encouraged to consider political careers.

Girl Power Politics is on a mission to change that.
